Style on the Skyline: The Resort Show Brings High Fashion to New Heights
Brisbane Fashion Festival transforms Kangaroo Point Bridge into the city’s longest runway
Brisbane’s skyline met high fashion in a spectacular fusion this week as The Resort Show opened the 20th-anniversary Brisbane Fashion Festival on the newly completed Kangaroo Point Bridge—a 470m cable-stayed marvel spanning the river. The result? A floating runway like no other—a logistical triumph that turned infrastructure into the most memorable catwalk in the country.
The bridge was transformed into a scenic, uphill runway where models in resort collections traversed the span seven times each, under the blazing sun, in high heels—a test of endurance as much as glamour. Designers including Pamela Easton, Camargue, Rebecca Vallance, Samantha Ogilvie, Silk Laundry, Kristian Williams The Brand, Astille, Millyzu, RicRac Road, M.J. Bale, Mitchell Ogilvie, Luxe de Valentina, Miss Henry (featuring Acler, CAMILLA, Alemais, Manning Cartell, L'Agence Swimwear, Farm Rio, Camilla & Marc), Gary Bigeni, Luxe Labels, Mimco, Valley Eyewear, Kelly Woodcroft Accessories, Martina McGrath Millinery, Novo Shoes, and designers from QueensPlaza showcased their resort collections in a show-stopping debut.
This bold moving tableau offered sweeping skyline views and dynamic design, marking a turning point not just for the Festival, but for urban fashion staging. With three sold-out shows in one day, the festival proved that when the city opens its spaces, fashion follows.
