New Zealand Fashion Week 2025 made a triumphant return this August, lighting up Auckland’s waterfront at Shed 10 with a bold new vision. The six-day showcase — themed Kahuria — delivered a seamless blend of cultural richness, designer legacy, and boundary-pushing creativity.
The week opened with Into the Archives, a compelling retrospective celebrating over two decades of Aotearoa fashion history. Iconic names such as Kate Sylvester, Karen Walker, and Maggie Marilyn set the tone among heritage collections, reminding us how far Kiwi design has come.
By contrast, the Future of Fashion and Graduate Collections showcased fresh voices shaping what’s next in New Zealand style. Emerging designers brought energy and innovation — think Pacific Fusion's culturally rooted fabrics, DHL’s finalists presenting polished new concepts, and young talents debuting daring statements.
The main schedule was bursting with names that define the nation’s fashion identity. Heavyweights like Juliette Hogan returned with a solo show, while Zambesi and Untouched World brought their distinctive edge. Diversity reigned with labels such as Kowtow, sustainable Untouched World, and the boundary-breaking Kiri Nathan, whose Māori designs resonate with cultural storytelling.
Runway presentations boasted standout touches — from the buzzing pop-ups and intimate designer exchanges to interactive backstage moments. Street style photographers captured the fearless expression and community energy that pulsed just beyond the catwalk.
