Homecoming Horror & High Fashion: Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi Dazzle at the Australian Premiere of ‘Wuthering Heights’
The moors of Yorkshire met the glamour of Sydney’s CBD last night as the highly anticipated Australian premiere of Emerald Fennell’s Wuthering Heights took over the iconic State Theatre.
Marking the final stop of a whirlwind global press tour that spanned Los Angeles, London, and Paris, the homecoming was nothing short of spectacular. Leading the charge were Australia’s own cinematic royalty: Academy Award nominee Margot Robbie and the internet’s favorite leading man, Jacob Elordi.
Robbie, who stars as the volatile Catherine Earnshaw, leaned heavily into the film’s "Gothic Chic" aesthetic. Styled by Andrew Mukamal, she stunned in a bespoke Ashi Studio Couture look featuring a hand-painted, distressed bodice and a dramatic tulle skirt—a nod to the themes of marriage, decay, and wild romance that define Fennell’s adaptation. Beside her, Queensland-born Jacob Elordi channeled a modern Heathcliff in a sharp, slate-grey suit, proving why he remains one of the most sought-after icons in contemporary film.
The atmosphere was electric despite a light Sydney drizzle, which Robbie playfully dismissed on the red carpet, telling reporters, “If you haven’t kissed in the rain, you should do it! It’s almost Valentine’s Day—go have a smooch!”
The star-studded guest list featured a "who’s who" of the entertainment and fashion worlds, including a surprise appearance by Hailey Bieber, as well as local stars Sarah Snook, Gemma Ward, and Amy Shark. After the State Theatre screening, the lead duo surprised over 1,700 fans at the Westpac OpenAir Cinema, appearing against the breathtaking backdrop of Sydney Harbour to celebrate the film’s official national release.
