On April 12, 2025, the Kedron-Wavell venue in Chermside transformed into a vibrant hub of fashion and culture as FASHIQUE Runway 2025 took center stage. This year's event spotlighted an all-women lineup of designers, with a strong emphasis on First Nations talent, sustainability, and innovative design.
The runway featured an array of designers who seamlessly blended cultural heritage with modern aesthetics:
Murrii Quu Couture – Founded by Cheryl Creed, the visionary behind FASHIQUE Runway, known for transforming op shop finds into haute couture masterpieces.
Maggi Walsh Label – Showcasing designs that reflect deep-rooted cultural narratives.
Yuban Designs by Davena Monro – Debuting a swimwear line that marries traditional motifs with contemporary styles.
Strong Women Talking – Presenting pieces that embody empowerment and resilience.
Deadly Denim (Perth, WA) – Elevating upcycled denim into statement fashion.
Val Smith Designs (Lismore, NSW) – Combining traditional craftsmanship with refined tailoring.
Complementing the First Nations designers were other notable talents:
9.Designs – Known for reconstructed, avant-garde fashion pieces.
Amelia J Tahere-Angus / ameliaj.designs – Bringing unique perspectives to contemporary design.
Mikas.Brisbane – Crafting handcrafted rubber jewellery with a distinctly Japanese aesthetic.
Attendees were treated to an evening of fine dining, live entertainment, and the opportunity to mingle with leaders in sustainable couture. The event also encouraged guests to don their own vintage or upcycled fashion, reinforcing the night’s theme of sustainability.
