Ekka Natural Fibres Fashion Parades 2025
A choreographed runway of farm-fresh fashion: when Queensland designers dance their natural-fibre collections to life.
This week, Brisbane’s Ekka transformed into a runway of rural elegance when the Natural Fibres Fashion Parades took centre stage. The T-shaped catwalk became a vibrant canvas where a “city-girl meets country-boy” romance unfolded through the textures of cotton, wool, silk, bamboo, hemp, and linen.
It was Queensland’s longest-running fashion showcase — now in its 31st year — but with a fresh twist this time: 15 designers, including seven making their debut at Ekka, presented choreographed performances with dancer–models, some from iconic Moulin Rouge stages and acrobatic troupes, bringing runway drama to every step.
The designer line-up represented fashion capitals across the state — from Brisbane to Maryborough, Kuranda, Toowoomba, and Noosa — uniting established brands and emerging talents under one stage. Noteworthy inclusions included the renowned Australian menswear label R.M. Williams and First Nations designer Briana Enoch with her label Jarawee, whose handcrafted pieces added a rich cultural thread to the narrative.
The scale of the show was grand. A massive T-shaped stage was packed with spectators, hosting three live performances daily under spectacular lighting that elevated every swoop of fabric and intentional movement to cinematic effect.
Every choreographed step, every floral print, and every natural thread wove together a story—celebrating Queensland’s creative craftsmanship and reminding audiences that fashion can be both beautifully artistic and deeply rooted in our natural world.

This year’s theme is ‘The Fabric of Us: A Love Story,’ where the threads that weave through our lives are celebrated by a timeless narrative of love.
Each meticulously crafted design tells a chapter from the first spark to a lasting bond - brought to life through the textures of cotton, linen, leather and silk.
It’s an everlasting tale of connection, care and craftsmanship told via an emotional performance that honours both design and industry.
From dashing country menswear to women’s fashion across the spectrum of casual cotton florals to the most special occasion pieces, the parades will feature 15 designers, seven of which are new to the Ekka stage.
The designers hail from Brisbane, Maryborough, Kuranda in North Queensland, Toowoomba and Noosa, making this iconic show a true celebration of the state’s most innovative natural fibre designs.
Special additions to the 2025 parades include first nations designer Briana Enoch’s label Jarawee, and new silk sleepwear label Noirelle, as well as returning favourites Mannzilo suits, Pink Pineapple’s sustainable cotton floral pieces and of course the next generation of up-and-coming designers from QUT, Billy Blue College of Design and TAFE Qld.
